Tarrytown is an affluent area of West Austin. Most of the homes there are of the 1950's design but almost all remodeled and decorated to the nine's and all dolled up. Great big lots with large trees shading the yards and the tree lined streets. There's no brand new construction in Tarrytown unless someone has bought a "tear-down" and has literally torn the existing home down and started over from the ground up. (even tear down lots around here are not cheap...the dirt is very valued here because of the location...the old "location..location...location" thing again.) When you see new construction you can pretty much bet it's "green" and it is going to be a showplace. The terrain is rolling and it's elegant old Austin. Sell your condo or home in Tarrytown now! Tarrytown is in West Austin so it's in a hilly area of town and the river has a dam right around Redbud Trail. (right by The Hula Hut which is a really fun place to eat and the fried shrimp are the best I have ever had.) You can sit on the deck that is on top of the water and have drinks and eat and look at the sky. It's worth a trip. Redbud Park is just East of the dam and it's a beautiful dog park kind of on an island in the middle of the river. The river runs on either side of it and people kayak and the dogs jump in and swim. It's a very laid back place to hang out and unwind. The dogs do not have to be on leashes here so there's a whole lot of romping and playing going on. |
